So after waiting 2 months for the part i eventually replaced the transformer. But after a days usage i am smelling some bad fumes again.
How would i test the other components, specifically the caps you mentioned... i have access to a voltage meter thing... can i just use that to...

A few days ago i noticed a strong electronic burning smell when i stepped into my office.
After opening the monitor i found that the transformer is hot. By hot i mean near blister inducing temperature. And it smells pretty strong.
