Dear idterminator, have been working on the sim300 series for a while now. and have came accross the same problem only with the Sim300C, you may use the equivalent version in the same series being Sim300CZ...this module does not hang up while communicating, have also consulted with the engineers...
No it does NOT require a preamp stage. But the only problem which i'm facing uptil now is that as soon as the microphone is attached it gets noisy.
Any solution for the noise???

For communication between any two different level of voltages i would recommend 2 NPN transistors as a much stable solution. Some recommend MAX232 but my personal experience with MAX were unstable.

What you can do is use pbp compiler for example, PicBasicPro or Proton IDE, and compile the code, the output will generate a Hex file along with an equivalent ASM file as well...The asm generated will be a bit more complex then what a human would code...but still it will be your asm.

Well if the module is capable to send serial data based on RS232 that is 5V level, then you can connect the module directly to the 16F877 but if the voltage potentials are below 3.5 volts then you'll need to use a MAX232 in between, you can simply use a NPN instead of MAX if you like to simplify...
Hi sadatwins, well what you actually need to do is ...
To run the dc motor using pic
1. connect one end of the motor to the +ve potential and the other end to the collector of NPN transistor (recommended TIP122), the emitter of the transistor be grounded and base be connect to the controller's...
if you're using is for the sole purpose of switching then i would recommend
2N3904 - NPN
2N3906 - PNP
both general purpose and easily available.

shifted to sim300CZ it does not have such issues, the only issue was a sudden restart problem...
which was resolved by increasing the voltage.
For Sim300CZ Restart Problem: Please make sure you're providing above 4.3V and enough current to sustain the voltage while communicating...

Hi Rob, we're facing the same problem during the design phase and are unable to resolve. We have made sure and the gprs mode is disabled. Can you please guide in the steps followed by you.

Hi vico3000, i'm using the same module, and getting the same problem. Have you found any solution to this issue. If yes please update.

installare cadence virtuoso
I've installed Mandriva 2009 and the OS is working well...but when i'm trying to install the Virtuoso, after executing the SETUP.SH it asks me for the path...after providing the path, it does make the folder but it stops installing saying, you do not have the...
sim508 at commands
I'm also planing to use SIM508 in a project, can anyone let me know about the interface circuit of sim508 and microcontroller as in the data sheet its not clear, also i require the AT Commands manual of SIM508 i couldn't find it any where...
Thanks
