If you don't have a problem with a 4-wire connection I think you should consider RS-422 as this will allow you to operate full duplex without having to switch the hardware from receiving to transmitting all the time....

Thanks for your reply but its different from what I mean.
Epson has oscillators in its programm which are being programmed by the distributor to the ordered frequency. It's even possible to buy a programmer to do it yourself. I'm interested to do it myself without buying the programmer :smile...
For video tape they insert a high level line(s) somewhere in the blanking period to confuse the sync seperator circuit.
I could imagine the same is happening in the programs you would like to record.
The solution is to replace the lines in in the blanking period with a self-made...

Does anybody know how programmable oscillators (e.g. epson) can be programmed for a specific frquency and what hardware is involved?
Has anybody a schematic and/or the needed software?
