    Yes, it does just have 2 wires, and yes Brian it does seem to mechanically work like you say and use the gravity. Earthing sounds a good idea.     Thanks for this! It’s from a Hotpoint WDAL 8640 Aquarius 8 + 6kg A class In the UK so we use 3 pin plugs at 240v
