    You can't get desired ratio if you do not use some layout tricks.But i think these tricks are so easy to implent,why do not you use these?

    Help on file systems in Linux

    ext3 ,rerisfs,xfs are journal file system, you will not lost data when you computer 's power is cut off.So they are safer than ext2.
