    EM simulation of 50ohm line

Thanks BigBoss and volker@muehlhaus for replying. I kind of get what both of you mean. In my case, I am trying to simulate the transmission line in a matching network (Please see picture). This line connects the inductor and the cap together. So I should skip TRL calibration for the ports right...

    EM simulation of 50ohm line

Hello, I am working on EM simulation of transmission lines. For example, a 50ohm transmission line. What kind of calibration should I use for the input and output ports? Is there any general rules that specify when to use TML or None? For this 50ohm line I am simulating, None or TML...

dc resistance of EM simulated inductor

A lot of useful information in one post!! I rechecked the design manual and realized that the inductor I simulated was double-metal (which was not visible in my previous picture), but the 10mOhm resistivity is for single metal only. For double-metal, the resistivity cut in half. In the newest...

dc resistance of EM simulated inductor

Yes, I am working on GaAs technologies. - still learning :( I double checked the metal thickness and its resistivity. They seem reasonable. I have so many things in the workspace, and I am trying to look for a way to simplify it! I exported .gds and its substrate. Need a way to put in material...

dc resistance of EM simulated inductor

Yes, I am also working on RFIC inductors. That's a great feature to know! Thanks! the via is Au(resistance should be minor right?). Just re-ran the inductor with your info, result looked similar but definitely not exact. I recalculate the resistance and is still 1.3ohms. Here's what I did...

dc resistance of EM simulated inductor

That makes sense! Great helpful information!! I tried to run the inductor in Microwave mode, the DC point did failed off while everything else looked the same as in RF mode. For calculation, I have the metal sheet resistance in ohm/square(which is equal to ohm right?). should I just use this...

dc resistance of EM simulated inductor

Thanks for the information! I tried your equations, it gave same result as using the circuit. Your mentioned that I can get accurate results from Momentum RF mode, how about Microwave mode? Would be result be similar? Also, you might can help me with this... The EM simulated indcutor seems to...

dc resistance of EM simulated inductor

I simulated a spiral inductor with ADS EM Momentum and would like to look for its dc resistance. Can I get the dc resistance of this EM-simulated-inductor from its S2P file? Or since I have the EM model, could I set up a simple circuit as blow to get dc resistance? With a dc source Vdc and a...

[SOLVED] EM Simulation of a Circle

This is what I am looking for! Thank you!!

[SOLVED] EM Simulation of a Circle

I have trouble running EM simulation of a circle shape in ADS. I draw a circle in layout and would like to run EM simulation. But when viewing the circle in 3D(3D EM preview), it doesn't look like a circle due to lack of points. (Circle in layout)...

    EM simulation of Lange Coupler

I do have a bond wire bridge connections in the lange coupler. I tried ADS Momentum and FEM, the results look very similar. But result from Sonnet is very different, which is giving me a hard time because I don't know which one to trust. Theoretically, ADS Momentum and Sonnet should provide...

    EM simulation of Lange Coupler

Hi, I am simulating a Lange Coupler at 6GHz. Which software should I use? ADS, HFSS or Sonnet? Would ADS FEM and HFSS be okay since they use the same method to solve? How about Sonnet? What method does Sonnet use? Thanks!

    Simulate swtiching time of diodes

Hi all, I have been struggling simulating switching time of diodes. This is what I have in ADS. Should I replace Port1 to a pulse source instead? Please help me out. Thanks!

How to create Schottky diode model in ADS?

I am trying to created a Schottky diode model and use it as a switch in ADS. I've found some datasheet with a spice model, but some do not. Such as https://cdn.macom.com/datasheets/SMGS11.pdf How could I create a non-linear model based on this kind of datasheet? Thanks

Applications for Schottky and PIN diodes

Thank you! It is absolutely making sense. Especially, "a mixer that just doesn't work right because the diode never turns entirely "off" (storage time > half period)".
