e cap negaive to ground
Hi all,
Just a simple question on the use of e-caps.
We all know that e-caps block DC when fully charged and allow AC to pass (most) of the time. What I'd like to know is,
1) if I tap the output of the e-cap from the negative terminal, with reference to ground...

Yeah, that's what I thought until I realised, looking at my schematics, that there are voltage regulators out there that are able to output say, 5V from an input of say, around 12V or something.

difference between choppers and regulators
Hi,
was just wondering what the difference(s) is/are between DC voltage regulators and DC chopper circuits? Does the latter provide isolation in a DC environment, much like transformers in an AC one? More info/links would be much appreciated.
