Ok the best way i found is with solder paste and a hot air gun mod you will need to cover the plastic parts fith tin foil to protect them Farnell sells smallish tubes ofsolder past it does seam like a bit to spend but the stuff works well.

Um when you say you going to build your own motherboard I hope you relize the scale of the project. Ive made basic single board computers using 8086 and z80 processors. but to build a full working motherboard for this genaration of CPUs is no easy task.
