I was looking in regards to buck regulators and i am wondering why is it that, for a fixed output voltage/output load.... the regulator is more efficient with lower Vin, as opposed to higher Vin.

If my device (MCU/CODEC/etc) all operates at 2.8v, is it still worth it to use a buck regulator at 2.8v driven from Li-Cell operating from 4.2v to 3v?
With a constant load of ~100mA, with a buck regulator at 2.8v with 90% efficiency, I would be saving ~15mA at the battery...
Hi, yes there are cost associated with series batteries. However from the calculations, it has the same energy density.
Two 50mAH 3.7v in parallel = 100mAh - .37Wh
