    EMX for Cadence Virtuoso

Hello All, I've question related to EMX tool in the Cadence Virtuoso. I'm using Virtuoso in ver. 6.1.8 and EMX simulator is installed. I can run it independently bu using terminal and properly prepared layout file. However, I want to use in under layout view in the Virtuoso window. In other...

Calculations of lossless coupled lines from a physical structure

albbg thank you for response. Well, I know that real components have greater losses than ideal. I just want to calculate how a \( S_{21}\) graph be look like for such an ideal case, when you measure fabricated coupled-lines. The equations which I've presented in previous posts are taken from my...

Calculations of lossless coupled lines from a physical structure

Yes, please see it below: On this moment, I use other approach which gives quite good results. However, I'm not sure whether this is good idea. I'm calculating entire losses of the coupled lines coupler by using equation: \[ Total Loss = \frac{1}{(S_{21})^2 + (S_{31})^2 + (S_{41})^2...

Calculations of lossless coupled lines from a physical structure

Hi All, I've a smaill problem with analysis/interpetation of a simple, measured microstrip coupled-lines structure. I just want to be make sure, that I'm trying to solve this problem in proper way. So... I've measured such a structure, and now I want to calculate situation, where losses are...

[AWR Microwave Office] PAE vs Back-off graph

Hello everyone, I've some question related to the AWR Microwave Office. I want to calculate relation between PAE and Back-off of Doherty amplifier. I saw on the internet some graphs on which such things have been presented - I'm sending bellow some example. How can I derive such graph in AWR...

ABCD Matrix of transmission lines connected in cascade

Hello, I need verification of problem which I analyzed yersterday. Let we say, that we have simple circuit composed of transmission lines: As you can see, we have one simple quarter-wave TL, and two open-ended stubs at the end. I want to derive an ABCD matrix of entire circuit in electrical...

Input impedance of transmission lines connected in cascade

Hi All, I've short question - does anyone know how a general input impedance equation of n-quarter wave transmission lines connected in a cascade looks like ? I'm searching such formula, however there are no concrete information about this. Best Regards, E.

Input and output impedances of transmission line

Hi All, I've simple question related to the transmission line theory. Let we say, that we have such line which has Z0=35.35Ω, with electrical length equal to 90°, and it's terminated by the ports of 50 Ω. I'm wondering why in AWR simulator input and output impedances of the TL are equal to 25...

    Empty ceramic dies/packages for ICs

So I need to wait when some empty die appear in my "collection" of ICs... Well, I wrote to Spectrum a few months ago, however they have minimum value of dies which can be order (10). Furthemore, price for such number of packages is to high for me (250$).

    Empty ceramic dies/packages for ICs

Hi All, I'm searching an online shop in which I'll be capable to buy empty ceramic packages for MMICs. I know, that there are companies which are selling such elements, however minium number of packages is to big for me (I need maybe two or three of them). Do you know whether such shop exist or...

    What are c and π modes ?

Hi All, Could you tell me what are c and π modes ? I know that they can be analysed due to asymmetric coupled lines, but what they are ? Why we cannot use even and odd modes ? I'll be greatful for your anwers and any info about materiał (e.g. books, pdf, etc.) Regards, E.

[AWR Microwave Office ] Impedance of parallel connection of transmission lines

I see. FvM, vfone thank you for help. I'm now wondering how it will be work, when lines will create a coupled structure. I know that the odd-even mode analysis can be used, but as I know such method is related only to circuits which have symmetry (so 2,4,6, etc. lines), so how discussed three...

[AWR Microwave Office ] Impedance of parallel connection of transmission lines

Thank You for all sugestions and answers. I forgot about one important thing, that the ZIN measurement in AWR is measuring input impedance of lines (from port side)... so mentioned 30 ohms is input impedance, not characteristic one... (if I'm wrong - correct me). FvM you have absolutely right...

[AWR Microwave Office ] Impedance of parallel connection of transmission lines

By the term "total circuit impedance" I had in mind resultant resistance of presented configuration. I understand your thoughts (I hope so...), that in such case TLs are working as impedance transformers. So maybe I'll ask about other thing - how should I measure the resultant impedance in AWR...

[AWR Microwave Office ] Impedance of parallel connection of transmission lines

Hi All, in last time, I'm confused due to some simulations in the AWR Environment. I've connected three TLs as a parrarel configuration, and I measured the total impedance of such circuit. According to circuit theory, and my knowledge - I should obserce impedance equal to Z0=Z_TL/3 - so in case...
