    loaded antenna simulation in CST

Hi, I have done quite a lot of simulations with lumped network elements such as inductivities or capacities. It worked good but I had sometimes problems if the space for the lumped element was to small. E.g. the antenna radiator is 1m long and the lumped element only 0.1mm. I think the mesh then...

    CST MWS microstrip port size

higher order modes for microstrip Hi, I would recommend to use the entire face of the bounding box as wave guide port. That way it is as big as possible and the lowest mode is excited (I guess that is the one of intrest). Ciao

Looking for examples of designing PA in Ansoft

Re: about ansoft designer Hi, start your designer and choose "File" -> "Open" -> then use the path to your install directory. In my case (which is the default path) is it c:/Programs/Ansoft/Designer2/Examples now pick an example and open it.

Looking for examples of designing PA in Ansoft

Re: about ansoft designer Hi, there are quite some samples included. Look at Programms->Ansoft->Designer2->Samples regarding amplifier, I entered some existing circuits from books and just modified them to my needs. That worked good.

why antenna length is quater wavelength

Hi, a receiving antenna does not have to be quarter wave. Even a transmitting antenna does not have to. It is just an simple type of antenna. The input impedance is low (about 35...60Ohms, depends on ground and environment) so you don't need an additional matching circuit in a 50 Ohm system. Ciao

how to control the bandwidth of an antenna?

Hi, it's depending on the type of antenna. Antennas in resonance (e.g. dipole, patch...)are usually narrow, antennas that are not resonant (e.g. Vivaldi, spiral antenna) are broadband. The size influences the bandwidth as well e.g. if you shorten a dipol and match it with a coil it get pretty...

    about fractal antenna

Hi, I did some research on fractal antennas as well. It is very difficult to get some useful information. Some companies (e.g. fractus, fractenna) advertise their fractal antennas but I have never seen one. There was somebody from such a company visiting us in our comany some years ago... just...

<CST MWS> Radiation efficiency of small antennas

cst antenna reactive power Hey Sherb, sorry but I cannot totally agree with what you wrote. Lets say we have a dipol antenna with a length of 10mm (which is really very short...). We will calculate the radiation efficiency on e.g. 500MHz. Using PEC the radiation efficiency is higher than 90%...

<CST MWS> Radiation efficiency of small antennas

small antenna radiated power Hi, you are absolutely right, there is something wrong in your calculation. I pretty often calculated very short antennas. You have to use lossy material to get a right result. I don't know why but you get a wrong radiation efficiency with PEC. Just pick a slightly...

CST Farfield simulation with two ports

Hi, yepp... it's possible. That is an easy step. Just calculate your antennas by letting the solver run. Once, that is done for each port you combine the results. Go "Results->Combine Results". You now can define the phase and amplitude of each single port. Done. Another way is this. You choose...

Looking for a 3D car model

3D car model Hi, does somebody have a 3D model for a car. I don't care what kind of car it is. I would prefer the formats that can be read by MWS or HFSS like IGES, SAT, STL, STEP, Pro/E or CATIA. Many thanks in advance

Question about 40dB in RF power loss calculations

Re: RF power calculations Hi, here the simple formula to calculate the loss in a certain distance: a(dB)=20lg(4*Π*d/λ) a is in dB d in meter λ in meter (0.125m @ 2.4GHz) You also have to know the radiated power. Like 1W transmitted power would equal to 30dBm. Add the antenna gain if there is...

    Selecting a Wideband LNA Transistor

philips bjt Hi, we are using a BFP620 (Infineon). It has a very good noise figure and high gain even up to 12GHz. I have build several AMP with it, it's a good transistor.

    u slot patch antennas

for which frequency range should the antenna be? I had once a project about small microwave patch antennas.
