Calculate trace characteristic impedance from electrostatic fields

bump bump! It's Monday morning, anyone have any thoughts on this?

Calculate trace characteristic impedance from electrostatic fields

Sorry, yes I suppose I didn't directly post the geometry. This link: https://www.pcdandf.com/pcdesign/index.php/magazine/10472-simulation-1512 Shows results from 6 different software packages, 3 of which are 2D field solvers, 2 are 3D field solvers and the last one is an implementation if an...

Calculate trace characteristic impedance from electrostatic fields

I have been doing some studying this week. I'm trying to use a 2D electrostatic field solver to calculate the even & odd mode impedance, as well as the isolated impedance, propagation velocity, etc etc. the approach I have taken is using Agros2D (an opensource FEM package, its actually quite...

OrCAD PCB and CircuitWorks: square hole problem

Hi All, I am using OrCAD PCB 16.6 to export my layout to CircuitWorks. I have a symbol drawing .dra file representing an electrically connected mounting hole. The .dra file has two circles one on the Package Geometry/Place Bound Top and the other on Package Geometry/Place Bound Bottom; both...

    Nvidia geforce gt 520 1gb ddr3 schematics

I really doubt that two resistors just fell off the board, more than likely they were just non-populated from the factory, to be used for some other hardware version. I could be wrong though.

[SOLVED] PIC18F1320 USART using MCC18 USART library

Turns out this was actually a problem with the MAX232 circuit after all. I must have damaged it soldering it down... thanks for the consideration

[SOLVED] PIC18F1320 USART using MCC18 USART library

I have built a board to communicate with a PC using a MAX232 chip. Using the code provided below I can easilly and correctly receive bytes from the PC. The problem is that I cannot send a byte from the PIC to the PC. I have tested the hardware (by controlling the IO pin directly) so I know that...

Constant Current Boost Converter using LT1172

This is just an off-the-cuff guess but I'm thinking your inductor might be saturating. What is its rated saturation current? (This is different from the rated current carrying capacity) Try watching the voltage across the inductor (VL=Ldi/dt)

[SOLVED] picking nmos switch to opperate at low control voltage

thanks for the input, this device looks promising. The current should be ~<1A. I am wondering, from reading the data sheet, how can I estimate Ids when Vgs=0.4v? The data sheet provides the info for when Vgs=0 Zero Gate Voltage Drain Current: Vds = 16v, Vgs = 0v => Ids=1 mA thanks for you help

[SOLVED] picking nmos switch to opperate at low control voltage

I have a hall device that operates at 3.0v with a CMOS output. Its data sheet says that its output control voltage can swing from gnd+0.4v to vdd-0.4v, so 0.4v -> 2.6v. This device is a low power component that will be used to switch on and off the power of the main circuit. See the schematic...

    LED driving constant current swithcher

Yes, agreed. That's exactly what I was thinking. Would the zener not function as an overvoltage protection? It seems to me that the circuit would function as if the zener was not present until it reaches the breakdown voltage - say 75v (the switcher is rated to 80v). At this point the zener...

    LED driving constant current swithcher

as far as component values go, I had originally used the inductor picker on the coil craft website which gave me 300 uH. I couldn't get this to work properly, so i used the 50uH from the data sheet and it worked perfectly. The capacitor is not a critical component value, because it just controls...

    LED driving constant current swithcher

Hi All, I'm trying to build a constant current boost converter to drive a chain of LEDs using an LT1172 switcher. (Datasheet) This circuit operates by attempting to output what ever voltage the circuit requires to maintain a voltage of 1.24v at the feed back pin. In this case that requirement...
