Thanks for your reply. But how do I implement forced ventilation in an enclosed environment with little or no vents?
Also, I was thinking of separating the power supply from the enclosure where the Raspberry Pi is. Is there any 220v -> 5v supply that does not need ventilation?
thanks
hi,
I am building a video intercom using a raspberry pi, and I would like to place a 220V-5V power supply in a small enclosure in an outdoor wall. Since the wall will be exposed to rain and also to direct sunlight, I am wondering what I can do to have a power supply that will not overheat...
thanks,
what should I put as isolation then? self-amalgamating tape? silicone grease?
underneath the heat-shrink sleeve on each wire? or over it?
Then if the wires are properly isolated using a heat-shrink sleeve on top of both the others should be fine, right?
hi,
I am turning a bicycle in an e-bike by adding a mid-drive motor and a battery.
To connect the battery to a fuse box and a connector i am soldering the corresponding wires. i am planning to solder each wire (+ and -) with a heat-shrink tube around each. I would then like to put a bigger...
hi,
thanks for your reply.
I'd read about this possibility, but I haven't been able to find details or application notes.
I've always thought of relays as DC-to-AC devices, or also as low power to high power.
Do you have any specific models in mind, or even better boards with multiple SSRs...
Hi all,
I not sure where to post this. so don't hesitate to suggest a different section for this post.
I am designing an automatic control for the roller shutters in my house. Each shutter has a switch that can send the 230v phase on either of two lines. I'd like to send each of this two lines...
Hi all,
I am trying to understand inductors better and I have a question that I can't get an answer for.
Assume I have a circuit with a generator, an ideal switch, an inductor and a resistor all in series (nothing in parallel with the inductor).
I turn on the switch and the current...
Hi all,
this may seem basic and stupid, but I really haven't found a precise reference on this and posting here is easier than searching more ;)
How far apart should 220v wires be on a circuit?
Is there any danger of an arc being created? At what distance?
Say I have two exposed wires and...
I thought you might mean that, but I don't remember discussing at what peak-height the waveform may cause problems. I am not saying that the problem will happen in my circuit, but I am interested in knowing ;)
mmm not sure I get it. Where has it been discussed? I am interested in learning more about this, but I am not sure where to start. Do you have any pointers?
thanks
Thanks to both!
But from a design perspective, once I find the actual numbers... what tells me what can be sustained by the transformer? In principle, my 500mA RMS can be achieved with a huge peak over a very short duty cycle.
hi all,
as per my other threads, I am at my first experiences with designing small power supplies for my circuits and I feel I need to understand transformer ratings a little better.
Say I have a transformer that is rated 6V @ 3VA.
My understanding is that if I connect a purely resistive...
