HFSS Help: how to deal with the port to port capacitive coupling?

Do you think Q3D uses planar solver? since it comes from Ansoft as well, I think it would be easier to switch to. How good / accurate do you think Q3D is comparing with Momentum or Sonnet? Thanks.

HFSS Help: how to deal with the port to port capacitive coupling?

Thanks for your reply. I am wondering if there is more practical way to handle this? I mean Ansoft must have been aware of this issue for a long time, have they done anything to deal with it?

HFSS Help: how to deal with the port to port capacitive coupling?

Hi All, In HFSS, I am using Lumped Ports. I found that the capacitive coupling between ports are big. I attached an HFSS project file here. I am simulating the capacitance between two metal traces. In the first setup, I have only 2 ports at each end of traces. In the second setup, I added two...

Can I do "if" "then" in Cadence expression?

In Cadence schematic simulation, can I do something like: vdc = if (SW=1) then (1) else (0) How?

Has anyone done EM simulation on QFN/Laminate package to extract ground inductance?

Thanks sezgyno, I only have HFSS12. I am not sure how to save it as HFSS10 format. In the simulation setup, I just draw a 3x3x0.217 mm3 copper box to model the QFN ground. It's very easy to recreate the setup. Thanks, Luo

Has anyone done EM simulation on QFN/Laminate package to extract ground inductance?

I am using HFSS. Do you know how to setup the port? I have the HFSS12 project file attached, the ground inductance is around 0.05nH. But I am not sure if the setup is right. Can you take a look and tell me what you think? Thanks

Why MESFET is more linear than pHEMT?

I read this book, I can't find the answer. Page 55-56 don't have the answer neither.

Where and how the NF and Gain circle move if the source degen inductor changes?

Here is what I find in this book. Very complicated equations for the NFmin of a common emitter bipolar amplifier. It is hard to tell where the noise figure circles are and let alone it is not even an inductive source degen configuration.

How does different standard affect power amplifier design?

I have no PA design background, so this could be a PA 101 question. What book has the answer? Thanks.

Where and how the NF and Gain circle move if the source degen inductor changes?

Can't find any related info in that book. I mean, come on, this is an interview question, is it supposed to have a well known answer?

    Even-mode impedance and Odd-mode impedance

you can read the Wilkinson Power Divider analysis in Pozar's Microwave Engineering book.

Where and how the NF and Gain circle move if the source degen inductor changes?

Does anyone know the answer? During the interview, I drew the Gain and NF circles based on my experience of several LNA designs. But the guy kept asking why they are located there and why they move like that. I am not sure if that guy knows the CORRECT answer, but if he does then there must be...
