To be precise for CMOS static power consumption is less...CMOS as u know is a combination of NMOS and PMOS...which governs the vdd and gnd respectively...due to which power is consumed only during transition state..
As old Nick pointed a LPF will do the job...in this case we will get the fundamental component...wat if we want to get a sine wave of our choice...in this case a notch filter will do..(correct me if am wrong)
Am not sure abt this..but as far as i know..we can realise poles and zeros by the way a system behaving in the real world....poles and zeros plays a major in designing a system..hope u know...to make a system phase lag or lead with another one...we got to get the help of poles and zeros of that...
U can use FM transmission, as it is of short range, frequency licensing should not be a problem. This project wont take much of ur time and money, with some 50 components u can design both transmitter and receiver. u'll get hell number of circuits in net. As u have to use it for security purpose...

enhancement vs depletion
Why there must be depletion and enhancement MOSFETs, i can understand its mathematical difference, but i want to know what for we need two modes? where their application varies?
uln2803 led matrix
i would suggest ULN2803, coz it contains 8 current drivers so overall u'll need 2 uln to for this. Most of the 8x8 LED arrays will have 16 pins( 8 anode connection and 8 cathode connection) by giving proper signal u can glow a particular LED.
Buffer must be placed between ULN...
