That would be 12 volts. Where do you bought this bulb, If you bought the bulb from an auto supply, it is 12 volts. you will need atleast 10pcs of AA batery to have this buld gives you a good light.
Maybe you can show me a picture of this bulb and help you design a better...

Most of the time, the specs of a bulb is printed on the metal body. for a flaslight bulb that use 2AA bateries this bulb rating is 2.5volts most of the time.
"The idea is not to exceed the rated voltage witten on the bulb or in its box."

If you need circuit, why not try simple circuits such as power suply with bridge type configuration.

dot matrix printer control logic transistor
i want to control a dotmatrix printer head. This head has 9 pins/hammer that do the printing. how can i control this 9 pins. does it needs 9pin driver?
Re: current consumption
1. Avoid unconnected inputs, connect this either to ground or Pulled up.
2. Use low power type IC.
3. Use CMOS instead of TTL type.
4. Use high R pullups. ex. use 10k instead of 1k.
how can i make a transformerless power suplly using a series capacitor? i have seen this to some low power gadgets. i believe this only applies for a few milliampere load. what i need to know is how to compute for the values of a series capacitor...
how you get what i mean....
