I've never understood why some people are scared to create new components\footprints. Just find a reliable datasheet online and that's it. It's a basic skill and frankly, creating a component in Altium, Diptrace, or any other quality CAD I don't consider to be a "skill", because it's really...
Then pickup another more popular component, or you have to learn how to design new parts in EAGLE. Frankly, I would better find a replacement rather than learning EAGLE component editors:-) HA-Ha:-) (It's joke for those who know the incredible EAGLE's DOS-style interface). I stick to DipTrace...
I guess interfacing via DXF should be your choice.
However, interfacing via 3D STEP makes it possible as well, but I think it's gonna be a bit tricky and kind of an overshot, even if you will later need the correct board STEP model for the mechanics.
Interfacing via STEP seems to be...
Can't find it? Then what's the problem? Google the datasheet and create/design a new component in Altium. Just make sure you follow the datasheet dimensions. It should not take to long to do that, maybe a bit longer than in DipTrace;-)(which I consider the champion in this field), but definitely...
Well, I'm using DipTrace and they've recently announced that it's gonna be a Gerber X2 export for manufacturing feature in the upcoming release of their software. I'm googling now, but I'd like to know if anybody know anything about Gerber x2 from their own experience. What's the difference with...
Being a DipTrace user I really enjoyed the Altium's project structure and synchronization. In DipTrace I have that "create net" tool right in front of me in the PCB Layout. However Diptrace gives an absolute freedom in Schematic and board synch, which is not the best thing when you forget about...
It's hard to compare all these tools. I think each of them is good and even great for somebody. But you have to be sure that you're paying tons of money for the right thing.
Allegro and tools from Mentor and Zuken are incredible - it's a whole bunch of features and tools for proper design of...
I'm sure you should contact the PCB house to specify blade angle etc. In DipTrace I would draw the lines and placed description texts on the Assembly layer, or some custom nonsignal layer, and then called the PCB house guys to make sure that they've understood my notes properly.
I think you...
Why not to use some 2D CAD (AutoCAD or whatever you have) to create the board and the footprints and then import that from DXF file to Eagle. This is how I did that kind of thing in DipTrace, so far as I see there is an import-dxf.ulp in Eagle as well. However I'm not sure if it automatically...
Well, I think that it will be possible with almost any PCB design tool today (except maybe some dramatically outdated programs). I think this multi-sheet/single board design system is more like a conventional and traditional way of doing PCBs. However, I don't like OrCAD, I'm DipTrace and Altium...
Looks like it's DipTrace you're using. They have a tutorial, it's pretty easy to search for keywords, like I do.
Net is the connection between two, three, four or more pins. Wire is like a segment of the net. Because sometimes net is build from several wires to connect several pins.
Component...
Well, I think you should export that files to some other format that Designspark can handle, however you should have either Altium or access to it))). And I'm not sure about the DesignSpark, never used it. I remember I struggled to bring my Altium board to DipTrace, which is not importing Altium...
I think you would see the difference if you'll compare PTH pad's solder mask with SMD pad's one. For example, my CAD software allows for different solder mask swell value for through-hole and SMD comps. I think Sprint layout should be similar.
