Correct me if I am wrong but I think that ICD2 based on FTDI chip can be almost as fast as real USB version. The problem is when you use ICD2 under new MPLAB versions (higher than 6.40). It is really a disaster - you need approx. 8 seconds to perform...

I've made ICD2 based on Lothar idea ('USB' version) with minor changes. After some experiments with FTDI chip settings (and pic bootloader as well:) I've managed to set the speed of COM port at 1250 kbit/s but the result was not as good as I would expect...
