Thanks for your input andre,
That was the first thing I did. And my apologies: forgot to mention that I'm fighting V14.1.5. Can you please advise which AD version are you using atm?
Can you please confirm that "Online DRC: Off" in PCB Editor preferences would for sure prevent the compiler from...
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to edit an imported schematic sheet taken from Eagle design and suffering from huge delays after a single action. The compiler tries to re-check the whole sheet for errors which I greatly appreciate but not at this moment. Do anybody knows how to temporarily disable this...
NO, I don't need the Layout, thanks! I don't need the PCB Editor (V16.5) either since it has been provided by the customer. As it has been stated in thread title I do need some useful literature only which describes PCB Editor workflow and techniques.

Hi there!
Is there any person around who could kindly point OrCAD Layout experienced freelancer to some online publishing or books about PCB Editor? For some reasons I couldn't attend any of Cadence classroom trainings but badly need to quickly learn the product.
Great thanks in advance!

May I ask what's the point in importing just a board (not a board housing) as a step model? If you're dealing with some complex shape it can be done with .dwg or .dxf file.

I can be missing here something but is that possible to achieve a proper differential pair routing without a permanent return current plane? Don't you guys think the board should be at least 4-layer for microstrip case?
Sorry for that indeed! There is only few ways I know and obviously you do: select Inside Area OR select comp and comp connections (Edit>Select>Component Connections) then move all the things by Move Selections command. Good luck!
To shift tracks connected to via first select the via then click on it and drag.
If you want to relocate a routed component set Comp Drag to "Connected Tracks" in PCB Editor General Options and use the procedure provided with context help: select Edit>Move>Drag.
I have no idea how that fits you...
Consider a complex footprint is created (on top side of PCB) using some layer set including some mech layers. If you gonna flip that comp to the bottom side and would like to see all the mech layers separately you should properly pair them in PCB Editor every time while creating a new PCB file -...
Try "Shift Click To Select" option in PCB Editor General Preferences - I personally select just tracks with a single click.
Yes, it's like that but you'll hopefully get to use.
As far as I know the vertical clearance rule between two components can be checked only if 3d models are present. Besides adding 3d models to PCB design gives you another look and ability literally to create not just a board but an assembly with all respective DRC.
If you need to change the...
If you want to control 3rd dimension clearance the best way is to assign a 3d model for the display at given height from PCB surface (even an extruded rectangular will help). I just tried that and it's working. You can specify a minimum vertical clearance for comps below the part in design rules.
