electrical tilt is preferred over mechanical tilt as ET causes regular and uniform changes in its pattern. Also remember this summary:
With the mechanical tilt, the coverage area is reduced in central direction, but the coverage area in side directions are increased.
With the electrical tilt...
Hello,
I am simulating a 2-18 GHz cavity backed spiral antenna in HFSS but I am getting these warnings (mentioned below) in fast sweep when I decrease the spiral arm width to anything below 0.25 mm. I have searched alot on google and HFSS guides but there is nothing on these warnings.
How can...
Hey
How can we simulate a honeycomb structure in HFSS? I am simulating a cavity backed spiral antenna and I want honeycomb absorber (graphite) in the cavity. How do I make the honeycomb structure?
Thanks
Re: Absorber material
Hey
I am simulating an absorber loaded cavity backed spiral antenna in HFSS. Please suggest an absorber material which is present in HFSS library. I didnt find Carbon in its library, is graphite an absorber that can be used here?
Thanks

Hey flyhigh,
Why cant we connect connectors to unbalanced end? I have simulated many structures by connecting an SMA connector which is an unbalanced connector. So i still dont get the reason of simulating back to back baluns.
Thanks
hey abhi_kolkata,
I also want to fill the cavity of my cavity backed spiral antenna with an absorber material. Can you tell me any absorbing material present in the library of HFSS?
Thanks
Hey Peleda and Saifullah,
I can define integration line in two ways as shown in the attachment. Can u tell me which one of the integration lines is correct for feeding two arm archimedean spiral antenna?
Thanks
Dear tallface, Can you please give the reference of your statement? As far as I have seen in the manual, it doesnt say that those port size guidelines are only for waveport.
Thanks
Hey KILLERCHAKRAVARTI,
The port sizing guidelines for a microstrip structure is given in HFSS Manual on the 2nd last page. For a microstrip structure, the port dimensions should be:
height = between 6h and 10h
width = 10w (if w>=h)
or 5w (if w<h)
where w is width of trace...
You should use lumped port to define a differential port in HFSS. Place a rectangular sheet between the spiral arms and assign a lumped port to it. Hope it helps!
Dear THz, I am designing a two arm Archmedian spiral antenna. I am not getting good s11 results. My freq range is 2-18GHz. How do you think I can enhance its bandwidth and improve s11.
Thanks
Hi
I have modeled a cavity backed two arm archimedean spiral antenna in HFSS, but I am not getting good s11 results. I am uploading the hfss file alongwith the s11 result , can you please identify and provide solution to the problem?
I believe I might have made some error in feeding the spiral...
