Ive done some research and came to that conclusion and tried to built a little circuit with a LM358 but so far have no decent result. The output is stuck to 0.7

digital ammeter circuit
Following problem:
I have some digital ammeters with ICs and they require the shunt to be mounted in the ground line. Wont work in plus line. When I have the + voltage on the Analogue Input the ammeter will not work and blow something up.
