This project comprises of a UHF Remote Transmitter PCB and a UHF Remote Receiver PCB. The two PCB's can be hardwired via a DCI connector during program development, once completed the connector can be removed and the RF remote testing can be carried out.

This tutorial aims to build a wireless interface between two PIC microcontrollers, one as a receiver and one as a transmitter. The transmitting rf interface will send information at 1200bps from the PIC's USART. The receiving rf interface will receive the information and pass it to the receiving PIC's USART where the command can be decoded and interpreted.

ASK based remote control using very popular encoder-decoder chips HT12E & HT12D. This chips are widely used for remote control applications. Special ASK transmitter and receiver modules are used to transmit and receive digital code. It has carrier frequency of 433.92 MHz and operating range of around 100-150 mts.

First off, this tutorial is for the ATmega168 microcontroller and RF Modules purchased from Sparkfun. For other AVR microcontrollers you might need to do a little modifications to the code. Also this code will use the C language , using the GCC compiler.

Implementing RF Modules
 

Here is my home-built, cloth iron soldered, range extender for CC1101 (included onboard) RF transceiver chip from Texas Instruments. You could say that it is a CC1101+CC2591, but for 868/920MHz band. Utilizing MAX2233 RF amplifier from Maxim-IC. It can deliver up to +24dBm (250mW) of RF amplification with +10dBm of input.

This article is about the very well known RF modules TX433 and RX433 that (or similar) can be found almost in every electronics shop, and a pair of them costs ~15 bucks with the Silabs C8051F321 (8051) microcontrollers
