Dos attack is Denial of service in which an intruder keep on sending request packets with fake source address to keep the network busy with unneccessary packets.

What kind of packets they are?
Are they normal packets or different packets. Is there any software to send such packets.
And how can this be stopped?

They are regular packets but with fake addresses, and there is such software on the NET
