I am looking at the datasheet of LT3083EQ#PBF. I am wondering what is VCONTROL actually doing. Can it be used as enable pin ? I mean can VCONTROL = 0 turn down the output voltage to 0 V ?

Hi,

according to the datasheet, VCONTROL supplies the contol circuitry of the IC (DS page 9). If you are planing to implement a ON/OFF control function a look on page 18 of the datasheet, where this is achived by the use of two MOSFETs.

This means when the MOSFETs are OFF, it work as normal voltage regulator. And when the MOSFETs is ON, it will conduct and SET and Vout will be short to zero making disabling the Vout.
