Hi all,

Need a remote (+-300m far from the master) slave control to open/close 40 pneumatic cylindres with inductive sensor for position feedback.

Found DCI_PLC but the distance is limited to a short 50m, so can I use a RS485 <--> RS232C converter and get some more distance?

Regards,

Fernando

You have two options:

- if you can instal cables (shielde-twisted-pairs) => RS-485 (RS-422) ..
- if you can't use cables (and the transmitter and receiver can be in the line of sight) => wireless (radio-modems) ..

The first option is reasonably easy to accomplish, especially, if you have only one transmitter and one receiver => 2 twisted pairs will cover full duplex transmission ..

Regards,
IanP

Dear IanP,

Very thank you for tips. Was thinking to use DCI PLC by De Coninck Ivo but the distance of RS232C cable is limited to a few meters and is not good for industrial enviroment. Another option may be DCI Bus but don´t know how to deal with scanning two or more serial ports with BUSMSTR.EXE program and Microsoft Visual Basic.

Regards,

Fernando
