Hi everybody,
I am confused about the concept of channel capacity when we are using multilevel and multiphase constellations such as 16 QAM. The maximum achievable capacity at high SNRs is 4 bits per symbol. But when we are using coding such as with rate = 0.85, how can we achieve this capacity of 4 bits per symbol.
In books there is lot of literature that talks about the fact that rate should be less than the capacity R< C. But how this whole scenario will be translated to systems using multilevel modulation schemes.

Mohsan Niaz.
