Realization of series capacitance

Can any one tell me why i m not able to realize a series capacitance using simple slot yet it provides the series capacitance to complete the circuit of CRLH on SIW.

A slot in the direction of propagation will present a series capacitance. If you find this doesn't work, you either created the slot improperly or are not measuring properly.

Sorry, I was rather ambiguous. I mean if there is a gap in the conductor in the direction of propagation -- i.e., a slot in the transverse direction, yes.
