Hi all,

please clarify a doubt. i am running OSPF in 4 routers and all these four routers are converged with R1 as DR and R2 as BDR (4 routers in Broadcast environ). R3 as DRother and R4 as DRother.

suppose if i am connecting a fifth router/packet generator which generates packet with DR as R1 and BDR as R5(indicating itself), will the converged network reconverges?

I know by default R5 will generate hello packets with DR and BDR field as 0.0.0.0 at first (and no preemption will occur). But here, assume i am having a packet generator and injecting the hello packets with fields as mentioned above. What will happen in this scenario.

Will the DR accepts this new hello and update its BDR as R5?
