hi i am working on a project in which i have to interface spartan 3 fpga to rs 422
can any one help in getting me the details about rs 422
i am not able to get the exact details about it can u help me

Re: regarding rs422

From the microcontroller (fpga) side there is not much difference between the RS232 and RS-422 ..
If you know how to connect your SPARTAN the the RS-232 port, you won't have problem with the RS-422 ..

The main difference between these two is the way signals are transmitted ..
In the RS-232 Tx and Rx are transmitted over single wire, whereas in the RS-422 drivers convert single-wire-signal to differential mode that allows to transmit data over very long distances using shielded (or unsielded) twisted pairs ..

Go for RS-422 driver with 1T(transmitter) and 1R(receiver), for example the SN15179 .. see picture below ..
