image compression techniques

Dear all,

Can i know the new techniques for image compression..wat i means is not those jpeg, bmt, or tiff format but something new.
Im a undergraduate student, my final year project was image compression technique.
Its need something new and using matlab, deadline is near the corner already.
Please, i need u help.

Hello friend,

You can use any under mentioned methods

DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) techniques or
Wavelet Transform method or
Orthogonal Transform methods for compression.

You can use the combination also to achieve more compression ratio.
