Hi all

It's my graduation project

I need to work on a small scale ASIC design project . I am thinking of doing a small scale complete application.

I have Mentor, Cadence , synopsys tools available on hand. Any idea would be welcome. Just write whatever comes to your mind as first thought.

Thanks

A simple UART will give u experience in FIFO design, serial to parallel convertor and vice-versa. can try that out

You could design a small array of Active pixel sensors.
This would give you experience in both digital and analogue design/layout.
A simple photodiode with reset and shutter followed by a source follower buffer, then an op-amp output buffer, with a couple of multiplexers to address the pixels.

whatever project you choose though it is small take it through the entire ASIC design flow from SPEC to RTL to GDS II

That would give you very good idea of the overall ASIC flow and the tools used.
