Q(f) = |(f -fmin)/q|*q + q/2 + fmin

How can I obtain or derive from the above formula the dequantization formula to find
a. the quantized values
b. directly from the signal f?

To my understanding Dequantization would be the inverse(tranform) of Q(f) however that would not be possible as this causes distortion?

So I do not understand how I can find part a and b.

Thanks
