Hi all,

I'm new to layout in cadence virtuoso and I am wondering how do you make an instance. I have already laid out a circuit with particular width, but I want to be able to lay it out so that when I change the width, the layout automatically change with it. Giving users easier time to get a particular sizing layout.

Helping will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
The easiest way is to open Virtuoso from Composer window. Tools-> Design Synthesis -> Layout XL. Then from Layout XL got to Design -> Gen from source. Lets say you have an inverter in the Schematic window. After you do Gen from source it will place 1 NMOS and 1 PMOS and all i/o pins. Press shift f to get the layout view. Click Connectivity -> show incomplete nets to get the flylines for incomplete connections. Complete the connections and you have an inverter layout

Hope this helps
Vab
