We are looking for a low cost camera module with the following features
1. Adjustable focus 40-60mm
2. Adjustable MAgnification: 50X +
3. Should be interfaced to embedded Linux platform

The camera will be used to monitor glass capillary tubes of 1.5mm dia.

I found I can use a magnifying glass with my digital camera.

You will want a high-power magnifier. It will permit you to get the camera very close to the subject. Such magnifiers are short focus and small diameter. 6-10X. A jeweler's loupe is an example. Or the smaller lens built into a large reading glass.

My digital camera can send a live image to a tv. It cannot send a live image to a computer. Other cameras might be different in this regard.

A webcam will send a live image to a computer. But my webcam is low resolution. You will need a high-resolution webcam. I don't know what is available.
