About the effect of shorten the capacitor

Sorry to ask you guys about a very stupid question ...
I'm building a circuit, if i found my capacitor legs are too long, can i shorten ( cut ) it ??? Will it affect anything ???
I think is just to remember which is anode & cathode , right ?8O
 

Ya... You can clip it without any problem. It is just for the anode and cathode marking....
