i having a simple doubt if we connect phase wire to pond fishes are getting shock.
in water all potential will be equal then how fishes are dieng. or from were to were current will flow

Re: shock from water

the current will flow from the surface of the water to the water bed..... since you are shorting a high potential to the ground the current is high for the fishes to bear.........

shock from water

if a person standing inside a metal tube and if some current flows through tube he will not get shock

Re: shock from water

i dont understand what u are trying to ask.... can you make your question a little clear.....

shock from water

The current flows from the wire through the water volume to ground. Water has resistance, so there will be a voltage gradient (volts per meter) in the water volume.

If you passed extremely high current through the metal tube, and you somehow prevented the tube from melting, then the voltage gradient in the metal could be high enough to create a shock hazard between the man's two bare feet.

What i can understand from ur question is , there is no direct contact between man and metal tube, where as in a pond , the fishes r in contact with water medium, which ll conduct current..

Re: shock from water

Basically when u touch the phase wire to pond then the total circuit gets closed via this way Supply - Pond Water -Ground, as water is the medium which can carry current and it is not an insulator that's why the fishes die as they could not bear with that high voltage difference just made by you in that pond water .

shock from water

phase supply is provided by a wire and earth is default bcoz naturally it is built on earth. hence there will be problem of shock.

shock from water

The water and the fishes have their own capacitances. For instance, if you apply a voltage with a frequency of 50Hz to the water, the fishes will charge and discharge 50 times a second. The "displacement current" through the fishes will create a shock effect.

You better believe it! My oncle and I used to use this method to get the worms out of the ground for fishing... Just be very careful. One mistake can be a shocking experience...
