any one have a good material about the ML sequence detector and symbol-by-symbol MAP detector, specially the mathmatics and the probability to be very clear and easy to understand, i.e.: step by step explanation.
of cource other than Praokis's book.

in fact Proakis and Salehi has a good, yet accessible, book "Communication Systems Engineering." It is an undergraduate textbook.

I strongly recommend the Proakis's Digital Communications, 4th ed..
It's the best book describing the mathematics of MLSE .

it's a graduate level book,used as the textbook for Advanced Communications course.
