Hi all,

i have simulated a 3x2x.5 mm LiNbO3 (anysotropic) crystal sheet in HFSS, excited by a plane wave coming from a variable direction .

When I plot the E-field vector I get a strange distribution: in some points of the crystal located inside the structure the field vector diverges, growing up to enormous values. It's sound very strange since I expect this behaviour, at maximum, in the edge of the structure. Surely it is not admissible in a regular region of the structure: there is no source located inside, there is just an incident plane wave.

I made the same simulation with CST and I did not get the above behaviour: the field inside the crystal is regular!

I suspect there is an error in the settings of the simulation, but I cannot see it.

Attached there is a .rar archive containing the .hfss file and a JPEG image of one of the results.

Does anyone can explain the HFSS results, and tell me where is the error or the wrong setting.

Thank you!

bye..

Does any one can explain this behaviour
