Dear community:

I have considered to working with Windows CE for embedded systems. I've realized there are many SoC's on market which are very attractive for development complet and complex systems with many peripherals.

I start to working with WINCE platform builder 5.0, and of course with X86 simulator. Many companies are very restrictive with libraries and drivers for working with SoC's.

With this panorama, which SoC's are better for development systems on WINCE?.

Consider you probably have to develop your own drivers, available resources for programming and cost for develop "economical applicacions", I mean with touchscreen, usb, some memory on pcb and of course with Windows CE running and the possibility of produce many software applications with it.

I appreciate your comments and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Then u can use MIPS based processor. Since it has designed for the applications u specified here. Even ARM will be good. See Windows CE supports 4 types of processors i.e. ARM, x86, MIPS & SH4.

Re: Embedded systems running Windows CE Which SoC's are bett

HI!!

I think the best option is to use ARM processors.. well they're kind of common.. Anyway I think it's going to be very tired to design a personal application with these resources..

Motorola has the I.MX family which run Windows Vista embedded Could you believe that? :)

But of course Motorola worries about their libraries and drivers and has much $$$$$ for produce, Then in this point:

Can we think Embedded systems with WINCE are only reserved for big companies like Motorola or TI?

Tell me what you think, regards.

Nice to hear u, Yes Windows CE is one of the best OS with real time concepts, also many help features/support from microsoft is also availble on it very easily..... :)
