dc power supply12v

can anyone send the cirucit diagram for constant 12v dc power supply:?:

dc power supply12v

are you looking for a simple 12v dc power supply or a sophisticated one? where are you planning to use it? if you want a simple one use a 12v regulator ic like the lm7812 fixed positive linear voltage regulator ic, nothing could be simpler than that (zeners are much simpler but not that good). i believe there are lots of circuit on the net available for that. try www.talkingelectronics.com

Re: dc power supply12v

What is the input voltage? in ac or dc?

Re: dc power supply12v

i have to make it using a bridge rectifier.input is 220vAc give to stepdown transformer.transformer shud step down to 12v ac.then using bridge and capacitor, zenor in cct i will get output across zener. i need cct diagram and components values i.e capacitor, zener:!:

Hello abbas1707:

The circuit below can give you an example.

If you just need 12V at no more than 1.5A, use the LM317 regulator. They are cheap, available everywhere, and very forgiving to experiment with. If needed, I can draw up a diagram for you. Let me know.

thanx a lot:D

Re: dc power supply12v

One thing i may add is... don't use zener diode unless the load current is small and steady. The zener shunt regulator configuration is not that effective when the load current varies a lot ( like from 10mA up to 400mA) because the value of resistor you use to protect zener depents on Il(load current). Also, the more load current causes the ripple voltage to increase, that too affects the zener regulator performance. Just go with voltage regulator lm7812, or even better get yourself lm317 and use external resistors to set the output voltage ( more flexibility ).
