How can I specify the size of the boundary box?
So, I made many little circuits and draw the layouts of these little blocks and when I put them together, each block has a very big boundary box (10 times large as the layout:-S).
I have just wondered how can I make these boundary boxes smaller.

select the box , press Q then adjust its co-ordinates

If you have ever used diva tools to do the DRC, running diva in "full" mode for each cell with a larger boundary box may solve the problem.
Any modification after a diva DRC run will generate a rectangle on "changed" layer. This layer may be invisible. Run diva DRC in full mode will remove any figure in this layer (but not figures in instances).

If you have never used diva tools for this design, you can try to put the origin into the "real" boundary box. Sometimes the lower-left ordinates will extend to (0,0) if any one is larger than 0.

I draw a prBoundary rectangle around it, it does not help me. I used DRC, the problem is just the minimum metal densities, but it is not a big issue for me.

The prBoundary layer affects the boundary box just like any other layers. It has no special meaning to the boundary box. It is used by some place & route tools.

Which tool did you use for DRC? It isn't Diva, right? Normally, boundary box calculated by other verification tools has nothing to do with "changed" layer. So the reason may be the second case I posted above, or it is due to the rule file. Sometimes the rule file may contain a statement to enlarge the chip extent by some fixed value, 1 micron for example.

hi drabos - what's your problem here is it the prboundary box? or the DRC errors in diva?

to edit the boundary box simply select the prboundary layer in your layout and stretch it the right size of your block.

thank you

the prboudry is used for APR tools
