Why the signal has to be converted to frequency domain?

i want to know y we have to do fourier transform and know the frequencies. iam a novice in thiis field and i want to know y the signal have to be converted to frequency domain. pls any one help me. and y we use DFT kin of algorithms

about freq domain

Fourier transform is the representation of signals in frequency domain. DFT is the algorithm which helps us to transform any signal into frequency domain. FT is useful in many applications, like spectrum estimation, sun spot cycle finding etc. A lot of biomedical applications are also there.

if u convert it into Frequency domain then u are free to see which are the frequencies present in the signal, also the operations is considered, in time domain convolution is a multiplication in frequency domain.
 

about freq domain

In a communication we say we have bandwith of certain frequency. the bandwith contain many harmonics.(signals) each harmonics have different amplitude and frequencies. now to find out each and every impulse we apply fourier transform. fourier transform is like a prism which distribute the light with respect to its wavelenghts. similarlt FT distributes signal with respect to its frequency

sorry to find each and every frequency in the whole bandwidth we use FT.
