Hi eerybody!
i just wanted to know how could we build a 10 min clock that is displayed on a scoreboard( for eg basketball)
i know how using 555 timer and the 7 segments driver and decoder and all..... but do i hav to use a time base?? and how wud i b able to run the clock backwards??? ie from 10 mins to 9 and then 8 and then till the clock ticks to 00:00??
plz help!!!(urgent) i wud b really grateful if anyone cud provide me an doc or web link or gud images???
(any webpage showing how a clock used on a scoreboard is used!!!!)
Thanks a bunch!
Sheheryar!!

Hi Dear Sheheryar!

I recommand you to use a simple microcontroller; e.g. PIC16F84A. It's easy to use and strong enough to do what you want.

Thanks!

Dear Mansur Bhai!
I cannnot (not allowed) to use a microcontroller!!
i have made the counter.... but still i am havin problems in developin the 10 min clock !!
shld i use 555 or an oscillator9crystal) or wat??

cant it b done with using a 555 timer???

yes you can use 555 timer but it is less accurate.

well that can b adjusted usin a variable resistor i guess!

and..... which ic (ttl) should i use for downwards counting ie from 9 thenn 8 then 7 till 0??

But you'll have to calibrate often to keep it in accurate.
