The are the advantages or disadvantages of PNP vs NPN and vice-versa.
 

PNP vs NPN

I only bear in mind that PNP has large Vbe burden and lower 1/f noise comparing NPN

npn can operate at a much higher frequency
 

PNP vs NPN

it is depend on what process.

if you use CMOS process ,then the PNP (vertical of lateral) are very weak transistor .

but the BiCMOS process is not like this.

The basic different between the two is caused because they use different carriers for conduction, NPN uses electrons while PNP uses hole as their major carriers. So NPN is faster than PNP, (since electrons move faster than holes). Now the current increases for the same voltage and the rest of the story.
