I want to have design a system where I have to interface my micro to:

1. Zigbee module
2 >GSM module
3 Two other micro.
4> built in LCD display driver

So do i have to use 4 UART for first three aplication, or Plz suggest me which micro will be best suitable for this application

Re: microcontroller

Hi

You can explore the MSP430 family.

TI wass free Z-Stack ZigBee Software Stack.

MSP430x4xx – This family of LCD flash/ROM based devices offers 1.8V-3.6V operation, up to 120kB/ Flash/ ROM 8MIPS with FLL + SVS along with an integrated LCD controller.

Best Regards
Pendragon

Re: microcontroller

Hi better go with PIC micro

please see the site microchip.com

microcontroller

I offer you AVR (like atmega128), specially LCD can drive by AVR very easy. You can communicate by another micros by I2C protocol.

Re: microcontroller

hey i suggest that you just use a micro with only one uart (8051) and then use a multiplexer to multiplex the rx and tx to commnicate to different devices:D

Re: microcontroller

For advance application, please consider ARM7.

microcontroller

hi all, i am new in this forum and also i m just starting my course in electronics in school. i am an hobbyist. i lik to see things done myself. though i have some handful knowledge on basic electronics and digital circuit but i would love to try out on microcontroller can anyone give me a guide on a better way to start and to have a good knowledge in it. cheers

Re: microcontroller

i recommend the AVR butter fly kit. it has an avr controller, uart for programming low power modes and and LCD and it it 25$ in price. its great. there is also free books on how to use it.
Good luck in your project

Re: microcontroller

MSP430 variant would be a good choice
