13 bit Barker modulation

Hi all,

i have a gigatronics 12720A microwave synthesizer and want to use it to generate 13 bit Barker code at 200Mhz carrier wave for testing my signal receive block.

can anybody tell me how to do

thanks in advance

try this

You can probably wire up a shift register 13 stages long and loop the output back to the input. Preload it with the code and then clock it around in circles. capacitive couple this to your signal generator modulation input.

I had a look at the datasheet on line and it seems that no special modulation feature is included in the instrument.
So be aware of the max freq, amplitude and shape of the signal you apply to modulation input, otherwise you'll get a wrong spectrum.

make your own modulator

You can make your own modulator by putting the digital signal and the generator output to a mixer.
