Hi All,
Is there any sensor to detect leakage of water ?. If anybody used this sensor in their circuit please inform me.
Regards,
Vamanan Kutty.

Re: Water Leakage Sensor

HI DEAR,

YES THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF LEAKEAGE SENSORS AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET.
WITH DIFFERTENT SIZES.
YOU CAN USE ANY WATER LEVEL INDICATOR ALSO.
THIS THING CAN ALSO BE DONE WITH WITH AN OHM METER OR WITH ANY BUZZER CIRCUIT BUT THIS THINGS NOT HAVE PRESSIONS FOR PRESSION YOU HAVE TO PURSE A POPER SENSOR.

No uppercase full text in a forum = shouting!

There are 2 ways to detect the leakage.

- Sense the accumulation of the water that have leaked out.

- Sense the loos of water from forom the leaking vessel.

Could you describe your plumbing? Could you tell us why the leakage needs to be detected? Do you want to conserve the water? Do you want to protect something from being damaged by water?

Water Leakage Sensor

kender,
I am designing a RO based water purifier. My intention is to protect all the electronics inside the unit. There will be more than 5 joints with the pipe and the Solenoid Valves, Filters, RO Membrane etc. If there is any leakage, water will be collected on the bottom plate which has to be detected.

Re: Water Leakage Sensor

Then your problem is relatively easy to solve. Put a pair of electrodes at the place where the leaked water will collect (provided that it will collect there before it gets a chance to damage the electronics). Without the water, the resistance between the electrodes will be infinite. When both electrodes are flooded, the resistance will be finite, depending on the amount of electrolytes in the water and the distance between the electrodes. Tap water at my lab gives about 0.3M across 10mm (I just measured). You can add another fixed resistor, make a voltage divider and connect it to the comparator.

P.S. I would like to invite your question to a specialized sensor group **broken link removed**

Added after 6 minutes:

Here's a photo of a leakage sensor from an ROV (remotely-operated submersible vehicle). I don't know what's on the ciruit board; I guess - comparator.

Re: Water Leakage Sensor

Two pieces of unisolated wires, or PCB tracks and a comparator should work fine .. see picture below ..
