I am having a problem with op amp band width and the
bode plot how it is ploted
what is the 3b point what is its significance in op map....:?:
can any one provide me any material regarding this or sugest any book..

Re: op amp bandwidth..??

The dominant pole of OP Amp is around a few Hz and the open-loop gain is around or above 10,000. But, considering the feedback in most applications, the closed-loop bandwidth will be increased a lot, according to the fact that bandwidth-gain product is the same in the feedback theory.

All operational amplifiers have a real limit of their bandwith.
Exceding the bandwith limit, the output amplitude will decrease even the input signal amplitude is kept constant.
The amplitude of the output signal measured at maximum frequency limit of the operational amplifier is given at -3dB as a datasheet parameter.
Most common is called small signal -3dB bandwith or large signal -3dB bandwith
and depends by the amplitude level of the output signal measured (for example 2V is a large signal or 20mV is a small signal level)

-3dB must be understood as an output being at half of the input power level ( or 0.7 of the input amplitude) with operational amplifier at unity gain.
