hi.

As i heard, most of the companies, especially the big ones separate the schematics and the pcb design for different people.

why is it?
-because it worked 30 years ago with simplier circuits?
-because it works very well? (I dont think so)
-because the managers want to separate the required knowledge between employees, to easily replace someone? (And to pay less)
-or they can not find anyone who can do both?

Is it true for all the big companies?
can i find a job easily where i can do both?
where? does it depend on the companies? company types?
can we agree about this on a job interview? or is it made into concrete at the companies?
(in my atual job i can do both. this is a small european company)

Is there a job exist, where someone is allowed to design a computer motherboard alone?

so many people agrees in that in high speed and complex digital design, its better if one person can understand all the aspects about a circuit. mee too.

hi

can u name the company who's following the structure?
I am in need of the company name.

I appreciate your kindly help.

thanks,
DJ

I sometimes think it is historic (and before computers). I agree that the designer is the best person to lay out the PCB for anything critical. The same is true for IC design. However, I have come across good IC layout engineers who are good at understanding your circuit and making a good layout.

I tend to think that smaller companies are more likely to do both the design and layout, although I also know some small companies who only do the schematic and use a CAD bureau to do the layout.

Keith.
