something weird going on - anyone have expertise here? i have run out of options to try...

new project (library), new cellview (called onefet). edit schematic to include 1 nmos, 1 resistor from drain to vcc, 1 vcc of 5v and 1vg of 2v (to gate). all seems fine.

when simulated with spectre, it reports that nmos N0 has no model. this happens when using the generic cadence models or the NCSU kit.

anyone found the fixit to this? seems like anyone who simulated correctly would have the solution - help me debug this one... thanks!
 

I think your model is not used in spectre.
you need change the model format!
 

I heard many people told they have met the same problem, this maybe caused by the NCSU kit on Linux.
 

I've found NCSU don't have proper setting for spectre. Please change to use spectreS or hspiceS instead.

I agree with you. It seems NCSU CDK is mainly designed for unix like sun solaris system but have not been tested under linux. It cause lots of confusion and problem during installation, configuration and executing.
 

What is NCSU ?
 

N.C. State University Cadence Design Kit (NCSU CDK).
 

I think it's maybe the problem cause by improper setting of CDF in the spectre cellview of nmos of the library. Maybe you need to check the model name of the properties of the nmos and fill the proper model name in NCSU CDK. OK, this's merely my little suggestion, you can try it at all without any hurt :wink: :)
 

yep, i started another post about simulating once i fixed this - it was improper installation of the NCSU kit. go check the other post for full install info, i think this thread is outdated now - it was from a long time ago
 

Though it seems to be so late to reply, i think it is better to be clarified:
It seems that the models provided by NCSU is not compatible with spectre, if u open it with a text editor u will see "&" character at the end of each line in place of "+" character at next line !

u can edit it and then it works!
